Lil Nas X did a lot of trolling on social media to promote his new “J Christ” single, and he was heavily criticized.

But it turns out, all of his antics didn’t amount to a strong chart showing and some clowned him.

Per Chart Data, the single opened up at number 69 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. That’s despite the 24-year-old using a lot of religious imagery, lying about going to Bible college, and saying he was going to expose the entire industry with his new music.

“We did it boys! we reached the funny number. be very proud of yourselves. this is our moment!” Nas X joked.

“All that controversy just for that??” one person tweeted.

“This why trolling and big budget videos don’t matter anymore,” wrote someone else.

“Hopefully this forces him to switch up the formula. The controversy route is so tired,” another person tweeted.

Do you think Nas X will keep on trolling to promote his music?
