The Hip Hop police have been the scourge of many a NYC rapper.

In fact, Fivio says his relationship with a cop from the informal squad helped to teach him how to navigate the streets and the industry.  Jump to 11 minutes.

“I just started moving smarter.  I think his name is Shawn.  He retired. Before he retired, though, he was like, ‘Yo, come here for a second. Let me talk to you on the spot,” Fivio remembered during his stop on The Breakfast Club.  “He sat me down and he spoke to me like, ‘Yo, you don’t want to miss this opportunity. You don’t wanna miss this money. Fuck this shit up.’ He told a couple of people before he retired that he spoke to me, like you don’t want to be in the way. Stay out the way, so it helped me out.”
