A De La Soul edition of DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz mixtape series could be on the way.

Earlier this week, De La Soul toughed through some technical difficulties to reveal their catalog of classics would soon be arriving on your streaming platform of preference.

Friends, peers, and fans, all tuned into the official announcement, inundating the comment section to praise and applaud the group for a hard-fought victory in a decades-long battle for the ownership of their music, and ultimately, their legacy. Amongst those chiming into the comment section was DJ Drama, architect of Gangsta Grillz, asking The Plugs to join him for an installment of his wildly influential mixtape series. While there wasn’t an immediate response (the group was seemingly learning how to use Instagram Live on the spot,) Posdnous appeared to at least back the idea in an Instagram story on Friday, reposting an image from Drama’s account with a grip of lightning bolt emojis.

But as appealing as it may sound, a De La Soul edition of Gangsta Grillz would be a strange way to welcome the group to the broader streaming landscape, as the vast majority of the series’ more than 150 installments (and counting) are only available through internet back-channels at this point. That said, the lack of streaming support hasn’t sidelined Drama in the least bit. Last month, Drama acted as de facto presenter of Tyler, The Creator‘s new album, Call Me If You Get Lost. And just today, the Gangsta Grillz series gained a new volume with the release of Fat Joe‘s What Would Big Do? mixtape.

A date has yet to be announced for the debut of De La Soul’s catalog on DSPs, but we shouldn’t be too far out now. Hold tight to find out if we’ll actually get that Gangsta Grillz tape.
