Young Thug found himself on the defense after a recent episode of Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast. During their conversation, he was talking about the 30 or 40 stadium-sized anthems he has in his arsenal and casually claimed, “JAY-Z ain’t got 30 songs like that.”

Although Thug attempted to backpedal — and rather quickly — it was too late. Pretty soon, Thugger was being dragged from here to Roc Nation. But on Tuesday (December 29), the platinum-selling rapper did a little damage control and wrote on his Instagram Story, “Don’t have Jay-Z on me cause of this internet shit, I was talking too fast but y’all know what I meant.”

This isn’t the first time Thugger has appeared to disrespect his predecessors before. Last month, Thug appeared on a T.I.’s expediTIously podcast where Tip likened André 3000’s style to Thug’s.

Thug replied, “I can’t rap you two André 3000 songs. I ain’t never paid attention to him. Never in my life.” Tip then brought up how Thug wanted to work with rock icon Elton John and the Super Slimey collaborator threw out another jab at Three Stacks.

“The difference between Elton John and Andre is, Elton John like to kiss ass, [where] Andre likes his ass kissed,” Thug said. “He’s just more of a fan type of n-gga, to the point I’m like, ‘N-gga, let’s do music!’ He’s like, ‘N-gga, bet.’ Andre more like, ‘This is his secretary.’”

But as Tip pointed out, André has always been supportive of other Atlanta artists. In a 2017 interview with Complex, he praised Thug’s artistry, saying, “He’s exciting. There’s no box. He’s all over the place. To do those things he does, you have to have big fuckin’ balls. It’s almost harder than the guy who’s portraying hard, you know?

“It’s kind of mind-fucking people. It’s saying, ‘Don’t get too comfortable with me.’ That’s one of my mottos: Don’t let people get too comfortable with what you’re doing.”
