Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” winning five Grammy awards on Sunday is still all the buzz.
DJ Akademiks recently spoke about it, and he believes that UMG is behind the wins. Not only that, Ak says The Weeknd performing at the awards show is proof that the label is in cahoots with the Grammys.
The Weeknd boycotted the Grammys some time ago and called it “corrupt.”

“UMG is very locked in with the Grammys,” said Ak. “The Weeknd and Drake, they’re boycotting the Grammys. Look what ended up happening. Now, the Grammys are awarding the song that’s kicking Drake’s back in. They gave that five Grammys.”
“And look who came back to perform at the Grammys,” he contiuned. “The n*gga that don’t like Drake neither. You think Universal ain’t got nothing to do with that? Universal probably sat The Weeknd down [and said] ‘Next year you’re gonna get showered with awards.'”
Ak later said Kendrick’s Grammy wins and The Weeknd’s performance is UMG’s way of telling Drake that the music industry is fine without him.
“Music will continue with or without your bitch ass,” said Ak about UMG’s thought process.
