Both Earth Wind & Fire and The Isley Brothers have left an irreversible mark on the entertainment industry due to their extensive contributions to music over the years.

On Sunday night, fans were debating who would win a Verzuz battle between Earth, Wind & Fire and the Isley Brothers on Twitter.

There’s no doubt about it, a hypothetical match-up between the two groups would be downright historic. What they introduced to the entertainment industry will never be forgotten and that’s why fans tweeted for hours about who would be crowned a winner.

Earlier this year, Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight showcased their greatest hits in their own Verzuz. This evening was a balm for the year that we all have been dealing with.

In their arsenal Earth, Wind & Fire is packing the cookout anthem “September,” “Reasons,” a soul staple, and two funky classics “Let’s Groove” and “Boogie Wonderland.” One track that could also come up is “After The Love Is Gone,” another essential listen. Each of these tracks explores the range of the dynamic group who explored jazz, funk, disco and pop during their reign. A few current bandmates include Philip Bailey, Verdine White, John Paris and Ralph Johnson (others have either passed or retired).

The Isley Brothers, originally from Ohio have quite a few songs that also stand the test of time. A few of these are: “Between The Sheets,” “Footsteps in the Dark,” “That Lady,” “For The Love of You,” “It’s Your Thing” among many others. In case you’re into numbers, the trio accumulated sixty hit singles during their career. The group was originally made up of gospel-trained brothers O’Kelly Isley Jr., Rudolph Isley, and Ronald Isley. Ronald who is affectionately known as Mr. Biggs and Rudolph are the only remaining active members.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that both groups contributed to the energetic sounds found in jazz, soul, R&B, and even hip-hop today. If this ever actually happens, we’re sure Twitter would lose it. We’re hoping Swizz Beats and Timbaland are taking notice of the tweets that sprang up last night.
