On Friday, Janet Jackson is releasing a 25th anniversary deluxe edition of The Velvet Rope, with bonus tracks, B-sides, and remixes.

This month marks the 25th anniversary of 1997’s The Velvet Rope by Janet Jackson. On Friday, the R&B and pop icon will reissue the LP with 13 remixes, B-sides, and rarities including “Accept Me” and “God’s Stepchild.” Mixes from the revamped album include Timbaland and Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott’s remix of “Go Deep,” J. Dilla‘s (Ummah Jay Dee) remix of “Got ‘Til It’s Gone,” and Teddy Riley’s TNT Remix of “I Get Lonely” featuring BLACKstreet.

The updated version of The Velvet Rope will be divided into two “Components,” containing 38 songs in total (compared to its original format of 23 tracks).

Upon the deluxe edition’s release, music videos for “Go Deep,” “I Get Lonely,” “You,” “Got ’Til It’s Gone,” and “Together Again [Deeper Remix]” will also be remastered and available to watch in HD on YouTube.

The Velvet Rope was released on October 7, 1997 with production from Jackson’s longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The album featured Vanessa Mae, Q-Tip, and Joni Mitchell, whose 1970 song “Big Yellow Taxi” was sampled on “Got ’til It’s Gone.” Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1997, The Velvet Rope went on to sell 10 million copies worldwide. In 1998, Jackson embarked on The Velvet Rope Tour with support from a then-teenage Usher. That same year, the Mark Romanek-directed visual for “Got ’til It’s Gone” won a Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video.
