For those who thought the debate surrounding Drake and Kendrick Lamar would be left in 2024, they were wrong.

L.A. rapper Glasses Malone and DJ Akademiks spoke about them on Livestream, and Malone says Drake doesn’t measure up to Kendrick due to cultural reasons.

“It’s not ’cause he’s from Toronto, it’s ’cause he’s a Jewish man from the suburbs,” said Malone. “He’s just not Hip Hop. Hip Hop is street urban culture. He’s a pop artist. He’s Madonna as a rapper … One week he’ll have a lowrider under the Bay Bridge, and he’s a West Coast artist. Next week he’s a New York artist, and he started from the bottom … Drake is an artist. That don’t make him culture.”

Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def, had a similar opinion about Drake. He called him a pop artist last year and said his music is compatible with “shopping” or “shopping with an edge.”

What do you think about Malone’s opinion on Drizzy?
