D’Angelo will be making a very special appearance at Rockstar Games’ upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 concert.

Titled “The Songs of Red Dead Redemption 2,” the event is a part of this year’s Tribeca Festival (via its Tribeca Games section), and will feature the game’s soundtrack producer Daniel Lanois, his band, and special guests as they perform “versions of highlight songs from the evocative and emotional soundtrack of the latest blockbuster game,” according to a description of the event on the Tribeca website.

Well, turns out that D’Angelo is one of those guests, with Rockstar Games announcing his appearance at the event via its Instagram account, on Wednesday.

The performance is taking place Thursday (June 10) at The Battery. Unfortunately, tickets are already sold out.

D’Angelo contributed the track “Unshaken” to the video game’s soundtrack. A couple years back, Ivan Pavlovich, Director of Music and Audio at Rockstar Games, detailed how D’Angelo testing out Red Dead Redemption 2 before its release turned into him contributing a song to it.

“D’Angelo’s actually a massive, massive, massive fan of the game — more than I ever knew,” Pavlovich previously said. “He would come in here [Rockstar’s New York city office] and just play the game. We weren’t even talking about doing music.”

Seeing how enthusiastic D’Angelo was about the game, Pavlovich decided to ask him if he wanted to contribute music to it, which the R&B singer agreed to. From there, Pavlovich recruited Lanois, which led to the creation of “Unshaken.”
