Beyoncé has become the first woman in 2022 to land a No. 1 first-week debut following the release her of seventh album Renaissance.

Beyoncé is back to breaking records. In the first week of releasing her seventh album Renaissance, the album earned 332,000 equivalent album units and sold 190,000 physical copies, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The “Break My Soul” singer is officially the first woman to go No. 1 on the chart in 2022. Prior to her, Adele went No. 1 last year in November thanks to her album 30. Beyoncé is also the first female artist to have seven solo albums consecutively debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Billed as “Act I” of a three-part project, Bey wrote about Renaissance in a statement, saying that her “intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgement. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.”

Since the release of the chart-topping album, the singer has dropped the BREAK MY SOUL REMIXES, which includes four remixes of the hit single from will.i.am, Terry Hunter, Honey Dijon and Nita Aviance. Bey also dropped a surprise “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” that features Madonna and heavily samples her 1990 single “Vogue.” On the remix, Bey references a list of Black women in music, including her former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, sister Solange Knowles, “Move” collaborator Grace Jones, Santigold, Aaliyah, Jill Scott and more.

To celebrate Renaissance, Bey threw an invite-only “Club Renaissance” album release party at The Times Square Edition in New York City, attended by guests including Janelle Monáe, Donald Glover, Trevor Noah, Jill Scott and Tyler Perry.
