Megan Thee Stallion appeared on a recent episode of Strahan, Sara & Keke where she participated in a tri segment. One of the questions was, “Which Hip Hop star created the catchphrase ‘Drive The Boat’ and what does it mean?”

Co-host Michael Strahan pointed to Meg and said, “I think Megan did.” Fellow co-host Keke Palmer responded, “You got it right. Ding ding ding. Michael, you’re right. It’s about consumption and she’s the originator of it.”

While Megan didn’t exactly take credit for it, she didn’t name Kodak Black as the originator either. On Tuesday (March 17), the incarcerated rapper clearly felt the need to issue a correction — but with a little tact.

“I Really Wanna Go Bad On Lil One but I’m Keepin This Shit Pretty,” he caption a clip of the tri game. “#LetMeDriveTheBoat #FreeTheGoat.”

Kodak first started saying the phrase at the top of last year while driving an actual boat, sparking an avalanche of memes across all social media platform.

In August 2019, as Megan began her ascent to stardom, she dropped the single “Hot Girl Summer” featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign and incorporated the phrase into the lyrics.
