Sources have reported that Kanye West has pulled out of his Coachella 2022 performance slot next weekend. Travis Scott will also not perform.

Music festival attendees won’t be seeing Kanye West for awhile. On Monday, TMZ reported that Ye has decided to cancel his headlining performance slot at Coachella, which will begin next weekend in Indio, California. Also due to headline Coachella are Billie Eilish, Harry Styles and Swedish House Mafia, who are all still set to perform.

It hasn’t been confirmed exactly why Ye has decided to pull out of the festival, also the rapper has taken shots at Pete Davidson, DL Hughley, and Trevor Noah since the top of the year. Over the weekend, a source close to Ye and his wife Kim Kardashian said that the rapper is “going away to get help”, per Entertainment Weekly.

“For the sake of their kids, Kanye told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better,” the source added.

The performance cancellation also means that Travis Scott will not appear, although Ye claimed that Scott would appear at Coachella with him. The news came after Billie Eilish allegedly made a dig towards Scott during a performance in Atlanta where she stopped her show for a fan who had trouble breathing. Scott last performed in a large capacity during the third Astroworld Festival at NRG Park in November, where ten fans were killed during a crowd surge.

Although Ye won two Grammys last night for Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Hurricane”) and Best Rap Song (“Jail”), the rapper wasn’t in attendance at the ceremony. In late-March, it was reported that Ye was suspended from performing at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards after using racial slurs towards host Trevor Noah on Instagram.
