Thundercat is joined by Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi on his contribution to the soundtrack for the final season of Insecure.

The soundtrack for the fifth and final season of Insecure is out today, featuring “Satellite,” a new song from Thundercat.

On his latest transmission, the bassist joins forces with vocalist Genevieve Artadi and Brainfeeder labelmate Louis Cole for a dreamy and ascendant suite. “Satellite” appears alongside new music from Duckwrth, Saweetie, Jesse Boykins III, Nnena, TeaMarr, and others, on the closing installment of the Insecure soundtrack, which has been a crucial part of the show’s success throughout its run.

“Satellite” marks a welcome return from the bassist, who has been on a year-long tour in support of his Grammy-winning 2019 album, It Is What It Is, closing out this week with shows at Crystal Ballroom in Portland (12/3,) Paramount Theater in Seattle (12/4,) and Knitting Factory in Boise (12/5.)

Since the release of his last album, Thundercat has been on a run of cameos, appearing alongside Kanye West and Anderson .Paak on Ty Dolla $ign‘s “Track 6,” crafting a hefty theme song for Flying Lotus‘ Netflix anime series, dueting with Kaytranada‘s “Be Careful,” and splitting low-end duties with Bootsy Collins on Silk Sonic‘s “After Last Night.” The bassist also celebrated the 10th-anniversary of his debut album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, this year, issuing a deluxe vinyl edition of the album on the Black Friday edition of Record Store Day 2021.

Hear Thundercat’s new single below and catch the next episode of Insecure this Sunday on HBO Max.
