New albums released this week include projects from Giggs, Chris Crack, Sosamann, Soul Glo, and more.
Not sure if you noticed, but there’s a pretty big election that has been happening all week. So people have been pretty preoccupied. That is definitely reflected in this week’s New Music Friday. Quite frankly, not a lot of new albums dropped this week. So it wasn’t too difficult to wade through the new releases.
In fact, even during a down week, there were still quite a few number of quality drops. The new albums released this week include projects from Giggs, Chris Crack, Sosamann, Soul Glo, and more.
Giggs — Now Or Never
Legendary London rapper Giggs has released a surprise new mixtape called Now or Never. This one is jam-packed with guests, from Jorja Smith to Dave East to A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
Mach-Hommy — Fete Des Morts AKA Dia De Los Muertos
Mach-Hommy has added his 2017 EP Fete Des Morts AKA Dia De Los Muertos to DSPs. The project was produced entirely by Earl Sweatshirt, and it’s excellent. If you have some extra scratch, you could buy a physical copy of the album for the price of $111.11.
Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon & Machacha — A Moment In Time
Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon, one of the most gifted rappers to come out of Charlotte, North Carolina, has dropped his new album. A Moment in Time was produced entirely by Machacha, who provides some of the nastiest loops you’ll hear this year.
Chris Crack — Washed Rappers Ain’t Legends
Chris Crack does not stop going in. The Chicago rapper has released his fourth album of 2020, Washed Rappers Ain’t Legends. Chris Crack is one of the coldest figures in underground rap, so you should definitely check this one out.
ELWD — DANDELION
ELWD’s new album, DANDELION, was recorded while under quarantine. Speaking about the project, ELD said: “DANDELION is an album about taking everything in, the small simple stuff in life, not taking things for granted.”

Anaheim rapper Phora drops his latest, With Love 2. The album features Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani, and Jhené Aiko.

Nav & Wheezy — Emergency Tsunami
Nav gets a lot of grief on the Internet. But he has regularly put out new music over the last couple of years. He tends to have a good ear for production. So this new project with Wheezy shouldn’t be that surprising.
Goodie Mob — Soul Food Expanded Edition
There’s really not much more you can say about Goodie Mob’s Soul Food; it’s one of the greatest pieces of recorded music ever. The Expanded Edition of Soul Food, released to celebrate 25 years of the album, features a new version of “Free” that is out of the world.
NLE Choppa — From Dark to Light
NLE Choppa is going through quite the rebrand. The rapper, who hit the scene in 2019 with the intense “Shotta Flow,” is now a more spiritual, grounded person, who is promoting veganism and mediation. This is reflected in his new mixtape From Dark to Light.
In an interview with GQ, he spoke about his journey, saying:
“It started out with meditation for me. There were certain questions I asked the universe while I was in my meditation. I read books, like The Autobiography of a Yogi, sacral healing books, law of attraction books. There was a lot of information that I’d just let soak in then apply it.”
