After about a day of deliberation, the jury in the YNW Melly double murder trial could not come up with a verdict.
So the judge has declared a mistrial.
That doesn’t mean Melly is out of the woods.
Hung juries do not terminate jeopardy, and the prosecution will likely decide to retry the case from the beginning without it being considered double jeopardy.
Melly is accused of killing his YNW crewmates Juvy and Sakchaser. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
