The new YG album features “FTP,” his latest protest anthem.

Friday’s crop of new releases has brought a new YG album. The Compton MC dropped My Life 4Hunnid, his fifth studio album. The album features guest apperances from Lil Wayne, Tyga, Chris Brown and more. Stream the album below.

YG’s last album, 4Real 4Real, peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 charts, fifth on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts and fourth on the rap-specific charts. Before that, his first three albums, My Krazy LifeStill Brazy, and Stay Dangerous were certified platinum, gold, and gold respectively.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, YG spoke about life since the release of his last album. Back in January, he was arrested and questioned about a 2019 incident in which an SUV registered in his name was involved in a fatal shootout. He expounds on the incident, along with his daughter Harmony, on the My Life 4Hunnid track “Out on Bail.”

“Kids get traumatized,” he said, “waking up to guns in their faces. But this really happens. I wanted to bring people back into that time.”

The track is part of a conscious effort to stray from his normal sound.

“I can’t come with my regulars, turnt up and lit,” he said. “I had to go tap into that. I’m so used to being like ‘I don’t give a f—, f— you…now I’m like ‘Damn, I’ve got to really go get into some emo s—.”

My Life 4Hunnid is available on all major digital streaming platforms.
