Brooklyn, NY – Torae is bringing his music industry experience to the classroom. According to Billboard, the veteran MC has been hired to teach an eight-work course called The Business of Music at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.

The school’s course description says Torae will explore “the mechanics of streaming, publishing, marketing strategies, merchandising, touring, etc.” The class will also examine the differences between major labels and independents in addition to teaching students how to start their own music company.

“I am multi-faceted, and I can speak about the culture through a few different lenses, from emceeing to branding, and now as a professor,” Torae told Billboard.
