Tekashi 6ix9ine can admit he had some assistance while he was locked up.

In a lengthy interview with Billboard, the Brooklyn rapper reveled in the idea most rappers don’t truly live out their raps, highlighting Drake and Meek Mill’s “R.I.C.O.” collaboration. Despite Hip Hop being cap to him, one notorious tough guy actually assisted him as he served out his sentence after pleading guilty to a litany of federal charges.

“Me and DMX were in full-blown conversations the whole time I was locked up,” 6ix9ine told Billboard. “He was in MCC. He said, ‘Baby boy, do what you gotta do.’ And I’m on a jail phone cause he’s at MCC, he was just released. One of the guys I was locked up with was celling with DMX at MCC … Manhattan Correctional Center. He got released, we stayed in communication.”

6ix9ine added, “DMX was doing Bible study with all the inmates. So put it like this, all the rappers speaking that gangsta shit? They not bout that shit. None of these rappers ever caught a body but they spit ‘Murda murda murda’ every single time.”

It’s unclear whether 6ix9ine and Dark Man X have remained in contact since 6ix9ine was conditionally released from prison in April due to COVID-19, but X appeared to be one of the few rappers who’ve given 6ix9ine a bit of leeway since he’s been back outside.

6ix9ine released his TattleTales album on September 4 after his antics once more struck up beef in Chicago and Los Angeles, challenged streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music and annoyed other rappers in regards to their respective sales.

All of it has seemed to work for him. According to HitsDailyDouble, TattleTales is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 150,000 equivalent album units earned.
