Earlier this week, T.I was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on a warrant for first and second-degree assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.

The warrant had been filed against him in Baltimore.

T.I. was released a few hours after the arrest, with his lawyer claiming the warrant was for another man named Clifford Harris Jr.

However, a report in the Baltimore Banner suggests that wasn’t the case.

Their reporting finds a Baltimore woman, Crystal Gorham, first filed charges against a woman for assaulting her in May.

A month later, the woman’s husband allegedly threatened to kill her.

“I was hit and beat up, punched, stalked and harassed me on the dates I gave,” Gorham wrote of the husband. “I was threatened to be murdered by this individual.”

The information the Banner has seen has led them to believe that the woman was accusing T.I. and his wife Tiny of assaulting and threatening her and that the arrest of T.I was not a case of mistaken identity.

That doesn’t mean Tip is in trouble. Prosecutors have dropped the case against him and Tiny and have questioned why a warrant was issued in the first place.

“This case highlights a concern that the State’s Attorney has raised previously and uncovers legislative changes that should be considered to ensure fair and appropriate use of the court commissioner’s office, including allowing input from our prosecutors before an arrest warrant is issued,” said James Bentley, a spokesperson for the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office, in a statement.

“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the issuance of charges and the warrant in this case,” he added.

Multiple women have sued T.I. and Tiny for assault, so you can see why the couple doesn’t want to be tied to another case of violence against women.
