Approaching the July 15 release of sophomore album Gemini Rights, Steve Lacy has delivered the video for “Sunshine” featuring Fousheé.

Steve Lacy and Fousheé take to the sky in their new video for Gemini Rights single “Sunshine.” After dropping lead singles “Mercury” and “Bad Habits,” Lacy joins his band and Fousheé outside, before the collaborators become suspended in the air via cables dangling from a crane.

While his 2019 debut album Apollo XXI only featured vocalist Daisy, in a new Vulture article, Lacy spoke about his intention of featuring more collaborators on his sophomore album.

“I definitely opened myself up to bringing people into this process. I needed an outside voice,” he said. “I wanted to expand. I wanted this one to sound bigger and better. I knew that I couldn’t do it by myself. It was a beautiful realization. The collaborators that I asked to be a part of this really helped it.”

While gearing up for Gemini Rights, Lacy has contributed to other R&B albums of the year, notably Brent Faiyaz‘s WASTELAND and Ravyn Lenae‘s Hypnos. In 2018, Lacy executive-produced Lenae’s Crush EP, and Chicago-born vocalist spoke to GQ Hype about first collaborating with Lacy when both were teenagers.

“From meeting him as a more shy and reserved 19-year-old boy, and seeing him now where he steps into the room and claims the space — whether it’s what he’s saying, what he’s wearing, or what he’s singing — he has really stepped out and become very, very confident in himself. And I think that translates to the music,” she said.

Gemini Rights releases July 15 via RCA.
