Houston, TX – Slim Thug knows the dangers of COVID-19 after testing positive for the coronavirus in March. Following his firsthand experience, the Boss Hogg Outlaw has lended a helping hand to Houston’s METRO bus drivers and police department as they face the pandemic.

ABC affiliate KTRK-TV reports Slim donated 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to METRO drivers and police on Tuesday (April 7). His relief team Smoke Shield and fellow rapper Baby Bash plan to donate another 1,000 bottles by April 15.

“I want our police officers and bus drivers to know that we appreciate their service during this tough time,” Slim said. “They have always been a huge part of keeping Houston going.”

The H-Town rap veteran also intends to provide hand sanitizer to healthcare workers in his hometown. According to CBS affiliate KHOU 11, Houston and Harris County have a combined 2,341 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 31 deaths.

Slim announced he tested positive for the coronavirus on March 24. Following his diagnosis, he urged his Instagram followers to follow stay-at-home orders and practice social distancing.

“Y’all gotta take this stuff serious,” he said in an IG video. “Sit home, self-quarantine, do not come outside for however long they saying. If you have symptoms, you need to get checked out.”
