ScHoolboy Q Bounces Back With “Soccer Dad”

ScHoolboy Q returns with “Soccer Dad”, his first solo single in two years. Before the song’s release, Q recently teased new music on Twitch.

Nearly three years after the release of his fifth album Crash Talk, SchoolBoy Q is back in the field with “Soccer Dad.” On Wednesday, the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper released his first solo single in two years, with production from Fu, Skyehutch, and TaeBeast.

In August, Q previewed four unreleased tracks on his Twitch channel, one song featuring Rico Nasty and another with production from The Alchemist. Asking fans not to record the stream, Q also proclaimed that he’s “better than everybody.”

Since the release of Crash Talk, the “Soccer Dad” has been a golf player, competing at the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California in February. The rapper spoke with PGA Tour about life lessons he’s acquired from the game.

“Coming where I come from, the life that I had, I never thought about playing golf, and I got into it and it changed my mental,” he said. “It let me learn myself as a person, like this is why certain things in my life are going bad or why certain things are going good because of the attitude thing, you get what I’m saying? It fixed my attitude in life, it fixed a lot of things about me in life.”

ScHoolboy added, “Life is a golf game – some good shots, some bad shots. But most importantly, keep going you never know. Don’t give up because you’re in the sand on your fourth shot, you might chip it in. It just taught me a lot about life.”
