Report: DMX Completed a New Album Before His Death
An HBO documentary about the late rapper was also in the works.
It appears DMX was readying the release of several new projects before his passing.
In fact, the rapper had reportedly completed a new album, according to New Yorkâs FOX5. âThe album is classic. Dee and I, back when COVID was announced, we jumped in an RV with X and we drove to Nashville, Tennessee. We drove down because X was like âWe canât get stuck in New York. Letâs go start the album,’â said the rapperâs manager, Craig Brodhead, in an interview on Friday outside of White Plains Hospital alongside Ruff Ryders co-founder Darrin âDeeâ Barnes. âThis album right here is special,â Barnes added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Brodhead notes the rapper was pitching a reality show about being a father and reuniting with his children. âThe album was one thing. He was excited about it. He couldnât wait to promote it and get out there with the music. But his main thing was his children,â Brodhead said. âHe was bringing his children together. Not only repairing his relationships with them but introducing them, a lot of them for the first time,â Brodhead added. And that wasnât the only screen treatment in the works. Per a report from AllHipHop, a documentary about the rapper was also in the works and may even have been finished. However, itâs unclear how the rapperâs death will impact their release.
DMX was rumored to be working on new music since his return to Def Jam in 2019 after a 16-year break with the label. His final album for the venerable rap banner was 2003âs Grand Champ.
