Eight months after releasing her Cardi B-assisted single “Wild Side”, Normani is back with new ballad, “Fair.”

Still teasing the pending release of her solo debut, on Friday, Normani dropped new single, “Fair.” With production and co-songwriting from Bernard “HARV” Harvey along with songwriting from Normani, Abby Keen, and Felisha King Harvey, Normani floats on the ballad, which she performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday.

The vocalist also wrote a statement to fans about ‘Fair’.

“This song really captures me in one of my most vulnerable moments. Sharing this record makes me uncomfortable because you have never really seen me in this light,” Normani wrote. Definitely aware that you might feel like you don’t know much about me but that’s only because it’s what makes me feel protected. I am really forcing myself to let go here. This is huge for me and hopefully this piece of art resonates. Love is beautiful yet so soooo terrifying. I adore you guys to the moon and back.”

In 2019, the singer released her first solo single “Motivation” accompanied with a 2000s-centric dance visual choreographed by Sean Bankhead. Continuing her homage to throwback pop and R&B nostalgia, Normani linked up with Bankhead again in the sleek, innovative music video for “Wild Side”, directed by Tanu Muino. The single also had its live performance debut at the MTV VMAs last September. The singer also had an appearance in the visual for “Family Ties” by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar.

Normani has yet to announce a release date for her forthcoming debut album, but as she continues her ongoing rollout, fans might be in for a surprise soon.
