A pair of Air Jordan 13 worn by Michael Jordan during his iconic performance in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has set the all-time record for sneakers at auction.

The final bid for the kicks, which went to the gavel at Sotherbys, was $2.2 million.

That’s a bit low: estimates were between $2 and $4 million for the only complete pair of shoes Jordan wore during a Finals game to become available for sale.

Jordan gave the shoes to a ball boy after scoring 37 points and evening the series at 1-1.  The Bulls would go on to win in 6.
