Melle Mel got everyone talking when he criticized Billboard for giving Eminem the five spot on their list of GOAT rappers, arguing if Shady were Black he might not even make the top 50.

While Eminem has been silent on the OG’s snub, folks like Fat Joe, Papoose and, of course, 50 Cent have rushed to his defense.

So has Kevin Gates.

“He in my top 5,” Gates said of Em. “Cause, he’s the truth. Who can make a song like ‘Stan?’ Who has made a song like ‘Stan’? The artistry of it.”

He was then asked about Melle’s argument that Eminem benefits from white privilege.

“Listen I don’t get into all that. There’s only two type of people, real people and fake people. Real people do real things. Fake people do fake things. I don’t go off all that … That’s my perspective.  It’s all about perspective.  And everyone is entitled to their own opinion and own perspective.”
