The word was ESPN was going to cut ties with some pretty big names in an effort to cut costs.

The word wasn’t wrong.

The New York Post reports Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose were laid off today, with about 20 more cuts to come

Other ESPN personalities rumored to be getting the ax included Steve Young, Suzy Kolber, Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Jay Williams.

Van Gundy, 61, had been ESPN/ABC’s lead NBA analyst since 2007, calling 17 Finals.

JJ Redick, Doris Burke, Doc Rivers, and Richard Jefferson are being discussed as his replacement.
