Minneapolis, MN – P.O.S, Sims, Lazerbeak, Mike Mictlan, Paper Tiger, Cecil Otter and Dessa — collectively known as Minneapolis-bred Hip Hop crew Doomtree — are back with their first single in five years.

Titled “Five Alive,” the track is full of unbridled energy and Doomtree’s signature sound. Every member of the crew is clearly armed with the same thirst they had when their journey began, making it seemingly easy to pick up where they left off.

“We started this thing because we were fans of each other,” Sims tells RealStreetRadio. “We wanted to create a place where any of us could create anything we wanted, and it could find a place to thrive.

“I think through that ethos, we were sort of able to each create our own planets, all orbiting around the pull of this strange arts collective/record label/band/publishing house/whatever we decide is next. Because of the drive of each member, it’s rare when all these planets line up but to me, it’s special when they do.”

Doomtree hasn’t released a crew album since 2015’s All Hands. As Sims pointed out, they’ve all been busy pursuing their own individual paths.

Although plans for a follow-up have yet to be revealed, “Five Alive” is a solid indicator the wheels are in motion.
