Bun B wants to bring two of Southern Hip Hop’s elite duos to the Verzuz stage. The legendary MC is lobbying for an Instagram Live battle between UGK and 8Ball & MJG.

“@therealswizzz and @timbaland are open to having us on @verzuztv y’all,” he wrote Instagram. “They just wanna see that the people want it. So tag them in my comments. Then repost the pic by @willo_hdesign to your page and story and tag them again. Let’s get the word out!”

Bun is asking fans to prove there’s demand for a UGK versus 8Ball & MJG matchup by sharing a graphic created by digital artist Willo H. Design. The veteran rapper is also calling on social media users to tag Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland in any posts about the potential clash.

On paper, UGK against 8Ball & MJG would be an even contest since they’re both Southern rap pioneers who dropped debuts in the early ’90s. But such a battle would lack a true two-on-two dynamic without the late Pimp C, who passed away in 2007.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Create New Verzuz Rule Following Jagged Edge’s Fail

If Bun gets his wish, he and 8Ball & MJG will be required to use a special system designed to optimize the sound quality for the Instagram Live battles. Following audio issues in Jagged Edge’s showdown with 112, Swizz and Timbo instituted a new rule requiring all participants to utilize a setup provided by the Roland Corporation if they want to compete in Verzuz.

“We’re gonna make that an enforceable rule,” Swizz declared. “You cannot do Verzuz unless you use the technology that we’re sending you because we’re sending it to you for a reason.”
