Doja Cat & SZA’s Groovy Single “Kiss Me More” Wins Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy
Doja Cat wins her first Grammy Award for her catchy single “Kiss Me More” with SZA.
Doja Cat and SZA’s “Kiss Me More” was a cultural reset. The Recording Academy decided to not pay it dust as it won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy.
This catchy pop song landed in the hearts of many Doja Cat fans immediately after it dropped last year. And for good reason, it’s fun and it’s packed with a chorus that isn’t easy to forget. But, also it has a slow burn. Once nominations hit the internet, it became clear that this was the staple track about the nominees: Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga (“I Get a Kick Out of You”), Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco (“Lonely”), BTS (“Butter”), and Coldplay (“Higher Power”).
With crutches, SZA made her way to the Grammy Award acceptance stage to collect her win. Doja Cat arrived nearly thirty seconds after her as it appeared she had just returned from the bathroom (yes lol). But, the moment they shared was beautiful, Doja shared her admiration for the TDE singer.
“Thank you to everybody, my team, my family. SZA you are everything to me, you are incredible. A talent, you’re a lyricist, you’re everything.” She added as she fought back tears that though she usually doesn’t overdo celebrating herself this was a big moment for her: “It’s a big deal.”
This is Doja Cat’s first Grammy Award.
