New York City, NY – As concerns over the coronavirus continue to grow, Diddy has canceled the final two in-person casting calls in Charlotte and New York City for MTV’s Making the Band reboot. The Bad Boy Records founder, who was also set to appear at the New York City auditions, informed his Instagram followers of his decision on Thursday morning (March 12).

“We want to make sure everyone is safe during these times, so we had to make the decision to cancel the in-person casting events,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.

While the two upcoming casting calls have been canceled, Making the Band hopefuls will still be able to audition on social media, using the #MTBcasting hashtag.

“But at the same time, I want to provide opportunity to everyone to audition from their homes,” Diddy continued. “So I’ve put together a team of A&Rs that will be checking #MTBcasting on all social platforms 24/7 to find gems. Everyone be safe!”

DaBaby was expected to return to his hometown as a judge at this weekend’s auditions in Charlotte. Last month, Quavo, Coach K, Monica and 112 judged the Making the Band Atlanta auditions, which were followed by the second casting call in Houston last week. Auditions were set to be wrapped up in New York City on March 21 – 22.

Diddy’s announcement follows several music and corporate events that have been postponed or canceled due to the coronavirus, including Coachella, SXSW and even the NBA’s 2020 season.
