The rapper also shared a cinematic trailer for his new album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.
After years of laying low, Busta Rhymes has been slowly resurfacing over the last few months.
In September, the hip-hop heavyweight released the new single “YUUUU,” with Anderson .Paak, brandishing his hallmark rapid-fire bars and sparring with the Oxnard do-it-all in the song’s monochromatic Spy vs. Spy-inspired visual.
And this week, it appears he’s officially off to the races with the release of the cover art and trailer for his upcoming ninth studio album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, which is out October 30th via EMPIRE. But that’s not all Busta has up his sleeve. In a clip posted to Twitter last night (see below,) the Brooklyn rap legend expressed his gratitude for the reception of the album’s announcement by sharing a preview of an unreleased collaboration with Ol’ Dirty Bastard, trading bars with the late Wu-Tang Clan icon over a jolting and glitchy production.
A sequel to his 1998 album, Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front, the new project will mark Busta’s first full-length album since the release of Back on My B.S. in 2009. In 2012, the rapper turned in the free mixtape The Year of The Dragon via Google Play, but it’s almost entirely inaccessible and remains exclusive to the search engine’s streamer.
Watch Busta Rhymes tease his unreleased Ol’ Dirty Bastard collaboration in the clip below. Hold tight for Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God to arrive on October 30th and scroll on to watch a trailer for the album, directed by Sam Lecca.
