In February, Anita Baker will tour in the first time in 28 years to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her debut album The Songstress.

Anita Baker is heading out for her first tour in nearly three decades. On Thursday (November 10) it was announced that the legendary R&B vocalist to embark on her 15-date tour beginning February 11 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. The tour, Baker’s first since 1995, will commemorate the 40th anniversary of her 1983 landmark debut album The Songstress.

“Looking forward to some crazy, lovely, hang time with my fans, on tour in 2023!! ….Gonna, bring some new music & some special guests, too,” Baker shared in a statement.

Along with celebrating her first album, the vocalist will be performing her classic hits live since recently winning back the rights to her masters. During Baker’s limited Las Vegas residency in May, the artist gave credit to Chance the Rapper for helping her regain ownership of her masters.

β€œYou should say hello to a friend of mine, by way of the music industry, and by way of helping me, helping me to get a hold and ownership of my master recordings,” Baker told her Venetian Resort audience while Chance stood and humbly bowed.
