Killer Mike has been an outspoken ally of Bernie Sanders since the Vermont senator initially ran for president in 2016. With Sanders now in the running for the Democratic presidential bid once again, the Run The Jewels MC’s support hasn’t wavered. In fact, it’s only ramped up.

On Monday (March 2), Mike — along with Chuck D and The Coup’s Boots Riley — was accused of accepting money from Sanders in exchange for his support, but Mike wasn’t having it.

“Keep it really real,” he fired back. “I accept NO MONEY from any politician. I am already rich.”

In another tweet, Killer Mike said if he was an every day black citizen in America and he knew Chuck D, Killer Mike and Boots Riley all supported Sanders, then there’s a good chance he’s the best candidate.

“If I’m a regular every day black person in America and @BootsRiley @MrChuckD & @KillerMike all agree on the same Presidential candidate Umma really have to consider that candidate because these three in music and real life action really give a damn, he said. “#Sanders2020 #Vote.”

Sanders’ recent rally in Los Angeles caused an uproar when Public Enemy Radio — Chuck D, DJ Lord, Jahi and the S1Ws — signed on to perform. Flavor Flav, who joined the pioneering Hip Hop group in the 1980s, blasted Chuck D’s involvement and fired off a cease-and-desist letter to the Sanders campaign.

Ultimately, Public Enemy announced Flav was no longer part of the group, however they made it clear it had nothing to do with political views. Find the group’s statement here.
