Future’s 17-year-old son Jakobi Wilburn was arrested in Georgia last month. The teenager is reportedly facing charges of criminal gang activity, criminal trespass and the altered ID of a firearm after he was allegedly found in possession of a gun with the serial number scratched out.

Despite reports claiming Wilburn had no financial help and would be at the mercy of a public defender, TMZ says that’s false. According to the outlet, Wilburn’s famous father is planning to fund his son’s legal defense and retain the “best attorneys” possible.

Wilburn’s mother, Jessica Smith, says she and Future are actively involved in straightening out the situation.

“Our son is a minor and to protect his well being in this trying situation,” she said. “We ask that everyone please respect our privacy at this time.”

If convicted, Wilburn could face ample amounts of prison time. The gang activity alone could warrant 20 years behind bars. Although Wilburn is a minor, Georgia law dictates 17-year-olds are to be tried as adults.
