JAY-Z and Roc Nation continued their social justice initiative with the NFL by releasing a new PSA featuring Botham Jean’s family. Jean was the 26-year-old unarmed black man who was shot and killed in his own home by an off-duty Dallas police officer in 2018.

Jean’s mother Allison, his father Bertrum and his sister Allisa Findley provide narration in the two-minute video. The PSA is the third release of The Responsibility Program, which was launched by Roc Nation and the NFL to raise awareness of racial inequality and police misconduct.

“I’m thankful that the NFL created this PSA to honor Botham’s legacy and deliver an important message about empathy and unity,” Findley said in a press release. “I truly hope that our society learns from Botham’s story – and the stories of many others – so we can make a lasting change in this world. Together, we must all set a better example for future generations and leaders.”

Jean’s killer, former officer Amber Guyger, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his murder. She began serving her sentence last October.

The Responsibility Program previously released PSAs about Danroy “DJ” Henry, a former Pace University football player who was slain by a police officer in 2010, and Antwon Rose II, an unarmed 17-year-old student who met the same fate in 2018.

The initiative also provides education grants to families affected by such deadly examples of injustice.
