We loved your new release, the track “unogood,” tell us more about it. What inspired you to record this song?

A. Disloyal and fake friends lol, but instead of being bitter I decided to have fun with the song. It’s all love at the end of the day, and I wish them much success. Sometimes you have to do what’s best for you, and that’s really what the song represents to me.

What drove you to launch a music career?

A. My childhood friends and I opened up for J. Cole before, and the love we got from our hometown made me want to take it to the next level. I never stopped writing music, and after working meaningless jobs and encouragement from my close peers, I decided to take it more serious.

What is your most memorable moment as an artist?

A. Well aside from opening up for a GOAT lol, I actually performed on that same stage in front of 2,000 people when I released my first mixtape, Actions Speak Louder. Seeing the crowd reaction from the music helped build my confidence to keep going.

We’ve noticed that you enjoy mixing up several moods and styles in your music, how would you define your own genre or subgenre?

A. That’s a good question. I feel like my music is human music. If you’re human you can relate no matter what walk of life you come from. I make songs for people in all different settings, so you may hear one song and then another and you’d think it’s two different people, because my inspiration stretches further than just hip-hop, so it bleeds together to make its own sound.

What is your favorite song of the moment?

A. My favorite songs right now would have to be of course “Unogood”, “Checklist” and “Wassup” are also some favorites of mine. I recently re-released my second mixtape, EPB4LP, so I’ve been diving more into that just from a listener’s standpoint. Aside from myself I’ve been playing “P” by ASTRO SLIK, “Whole Lotta Ice” by Drakeo The Ruler, “I Hate U” by SZA, “Titanic” by Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler, The Creator’s last album, Pi’erre Bourne’s TLOP5, Blxst. I can go on all day tbh lol.

What artists have influenced you the most?

A. My main influences would have to be Jay-Z, Kanye, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Curren$y, J. Cole & OutKast.

What’s next for ROB TAYLOR?

A. Album album album!! My debut album “ROBBY“ will be released this year!! After that it’s festivals, touring and continuing to build this music legacy with my team. I want to get into some comedy and action roles in the near future, so I’m working on that as well. Aside from myself I want to help uplift my communities, so more philanthropic work in my hometown Milwaukee, and Los Angeles.

Thank You!
