Travis Scott Reportedly Removed From Coachella 2022 Lineup
Less than a week after his first in-depth interview following the Astroworld Tragedy, Travis Scott reportedly gets axed from the Coachella 2022 lineup.
Travis Scott is still facing public reckoning less than a month after Astroworld Festival 2021. Scott was previously set to headline Coachella 2022. But three days after the Astroworld tragedy, members of Change.org created a petition for Scott to be removed from performing at the festival. While the petition has yet to reach 75,000 signatures, concert and festival company Goldenvoice has pulled Scott from next yearās Coachella.
According to Variety, Scottās longtime agent Cara Lewis was informed by Coachella that Scott was removed from the festival bill, but would still receive a kill fee for the performance cancellation. Hit with hundreds of Astroworld Festival lawsuits, itās unlikely that Scott will perform at any music festival in the near future. Various media brands have also revoked partnerships with Scott, including Epic Gamesā Fornite, Mega64 and Anheuser-Busch, who has discontinued the rapperās hard seltzer line, CACTI. As reported by NPR, Scottās Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack shoe launch has also been postponed on the SNKRS app and the Nike website.
Scottās removal from Coachella 2022 follows his surprise interview with Charlamagne tha God last week, where the rapper spoke about being on an āemotional rollercoasterā following Astroworld Festival and being pinned with liability after the deaths of 10 festival attendees. According to Rolling Stone, after the interviewās premiere, family members of the deceased Astroworld attendees blasted Scott for his perceived negligence.
āThereās videos of people telling him to stop this concert, and he didnāt. How could he not know?ā said Jennifer PeƱa, whose sister, Ruby, died at the festival. āI still think heās guilty in some sense, in my opinion. The first minute they told him to stop the concert early, he could have been like āStop.āā
With Scottās withdrawal, the sold-out Coachella 2022 is still set to be held on the weekends of April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.
