In his first directorial experience, Kerby flips the four-minute track into a nearly nine-minute short wherein an alternate reality, black and white Americans have switched places.

Wale praised Kerby, who also wrote the screenplay for “Sue Me”, in a tweet following the premiere of the visual on Wednesday (April 22).

“Super proud of my man @kerbito,” he began.

“It’s important for us to believe in our brothers/sisters. Encourage your people to push each other. Celebrate your victories. Now if you not familiar with him go look at his stuff and thank me later lol.”

“Sue Me” follows the story of star Lucas Hedges and his family, who live in a surreal low-income setting in New York City. There are several twists throughout the visual, including a re-enactment of the arrest of two unarmed black males in a Starbucks in Philadelphia, and visceral footage of a real prisoner.

“The brother in the last minute of the video is Aaron DeShawn Campbell,” Kerby explained in a tweet.

“He’s being held in solitary confinement at Elkton. We had to get permission to use his video from his family. He still needs a way out #sueme.”
