15 New Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Be Listening To (Week of August 27)
This week’s top albums feature selections from Westside Gunn, Blk Oddysy, Shaybo, Mercury, Boslen, Ray Vaughn and more.
It’s been a stacked week filled with a lot of great releases. If you’re not living under a rock, some stans are still waiting for Kanye West’s DONDA, and Drake might be releasing Certified Lover Boy ASAP. Even with those looming releases, it’s New Music Friday so we’re back again with some handpicked selects you should be paying attention to.
A few talents we’re keen to see grow in the next few months and years include Blk Odyssy and Boslen, the former dropped off Blk Vintage, a soothing project infused with neo-soul inclinations. While, the latter rolled out DUSK to DAWN, an equally moving release. CJ Fly has also dropped off Not What You Were Expecting; Lil Yachty serves up Birthday Mix 6; and Mercury recently shared Merc Tape staking her claim as a rising Atlanta rapper worth keeping an eye on.
As for those who are moreso into stellar production we’d push you to turn on Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 8 (Side A), Flee Lord x Roc Marciano’s Delgado and Ray Vaughn’s Peer Pressure. Vaughn is a new signee of TDE (they just announced him joining the talented label this week).
Beyond the call-outs we’ve listed above there are also projects from Curren$y, Grip, Problem and Jaden. Keep scrolling for this week’s selects.
