Winning the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards 2022, Diddy graced the stage along with Ye, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Shyne and more.

Diddy has been crowned with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Opened with a video of JAY-Z speaking on Diddy’s legacy, during the BET Awards 2022, the rapper and Bad Boy Records mogul got his flowers while performing with Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, Shyne, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, The Lox, Bryson Tiller, Busta Rhymes and more.

According to BET, the Lifetime Achievement Award is given to industry recipients who “have not only significantly shaped culture through their extensive careers, but who have also been transformative leaders that consistently inspire generations by setting a true standard of excellence.”

Prior to founding Bad Boy Records, Diddy was an A&R at Uptown Records in the early-’90s, where he introduced Jodeci and Mary J. Blige to the mainstream.

During the award acceptance portion following Diddy’s all-star performance, Babyface took the stage to introduce Ye, who shared his admiration of Diddy during the ’90s.

“This man was so famous, it was just good enough for me to be Chicago’s version of Puff,” Ye said.

During his acceptance speech, Diddy dedicated his award to his mother, while giving thanks to his former Uptown mentor Andre Harrell, longtime partner Kim Porter, Heavy D and The Notorious B.I.G.

Concluding his speech, Diddy announced a $1 million dollar donation to his alma mater Howard University and an additional $1 million dollar donation to fellow HBCU Jackson State University, where former NFL player Deion Sanders coaches the Jackson State Tigers.
