Ray Vaughn earns his keep as the latest TDE signee with a nearly seven-minute freestyle for LA Leakers.

In case you missed the memo, Top Dawg Entertainment grew one rapper stronger this week with the signing of Ray Vaughn.

The Long Beach rapper’s addition to the roster was announced by the label yesterday afternoon with the release of Vaughn’s short, but potent, debut EP with the camp. And today, Vaughn earned his keep with an appearance in the LA Leakers studio, where he introduced himself to resident DJs, Justin Credible and Sourmilk (and, well, the rest of us,) with a blistering freestyle set first to Snoop Dogg’s “Lay Low,” before closing out the stream-of-consciousness showcase over Beanie Sigel’s “Feel It In The Air.”

Vaughn’s signing marks the beginning of a new era for the prestigious West Coast banner. Last week, Kendrick Lamar announced his forthcoming album would be his final as a member of TDE. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators,” Lamar wrote in a heartfelt statement. A date for his departing project has yet to be revealed, but it seem he’s back in action nonetheless. Earlier this week, Lamar appeared in a trailer for “Family Ties,” an incoming single from Baby Keem, which is set to arrive at midnight this evening.
