Los Angeles, CA – As the coronavirus pandemic continues to cripple the economy and incite fear across the globe, some people aren’t really concerned — and Waka Flocka Flame is one of them.

During an interview with Real 92.3 LA, he and his wife Tammy Rivera talked about their relationship and a myriad of other topics.

Around the 11:40-minute mark, the subject of COVID-19 came up and the self-admitted “wack rapper” claimed he was essentially immune to the virus and flatly stated it wasn’t even real.

“It’s fake … Minorities can’t catch it,” he said. “Name one though. We all descended from the same persons. Now, did we catch it? It hit the people passing through our airport [Atlanta], it ain’t touch them soulful folks.”

Obviously, the notion minorities can’t catch the novel coronavirus is factually incorrect. The NBA suspended the 2020 season after Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell — both black — tested positive for COVID-19.

As of Friday (March 13), the Center For Disease Control reports there are 1,629 total cases of COVID-19 and 41 deaths. The state of Georgia, in particular, has 42 cases. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Six Flags Over Georgia and the Atlanta Motor Speedway are among the many tourist attractions that have been shut down.

SXSW, Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival and the Ultra Music Festival in Miami are just a sliver of the major music events that have been canceled or postponed because of the coronavirus. Live Nation and AEG also canceled all tours until at least April.
