A briefly tense moment of Twitter drama may have cleared the way for a once-shelved collaborative project from Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt, and the Long Beach rapper.

In a new interview with Ebro for Apple Music, Vince Staples revealed that his latest album was initially going to be a collaborative project with producer the Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt. However, the sessions didn’t progress at the rate Staples had hoped. “Alchemist had hit me and was like, ‘I want this project. Me, you, and Earl. I only need three weeks,” the rapper explained. “I’m like, ‘All right, I’ll do it.’ So we go over there, and they get high. So I’m the only one over there rapping. And I don’t smoke, so it didn’t really blend. I was getting headaches. So next thing I know I got 30 verses on 30 beats,” Staples added. “I thought we was collaborating!” Staples shrugs with his signature wit.

On Friday, the Alchemist caught wind of Vince Staples claiming he was “hella slow” in turning around a joint project with Earl Sweatshirt. And he went to Twitter. “Vince is full of shit” the producer rebuked on Twitter, adding that he’d been sitting on a mixed project with Staples for months and there were “mad songs with him and Thebe.” It didn’t take long for Al’s discontent to get back to the Long Beach rapper, who clarified the sentiments circulating in the hours after the interview with Ebra went live.

“I offended Alchemist the other day in that Ebro interview he don’t just be high in the studio sleeping. He be high in the studio making beats!” the rapper wrote. Based on Al’s “lol. I love you,” it appears that’s all it took to squash a briefly tense moment of Twitter drama and potentially revive their once-shelved collaborative project. “Run this up until we decide to unleash the fury,” the producer writes, sharing a link to Staples’ new self-titled project. Suppose we’ll just have to wait it out. Then again, this whole thing could have been a choreographed stunt from two ace Twitter trolls. Time will inevitably tell.
