Half of the proceeds from the sale will be given to the late rapper’s children.

An unreleased version of MF DOOM‘s “Dead Bent” video will be unveiled to the highest bidder in an upcoming NFT auction.

Announced via press release, the auction is slated to go live on Foundation on Wednesday, April 28th, at 12pm EST. The winner not only receives the digital file of the video, but the 16mm film canister and negatives from the shoot, as well as all documentation that would verify the one-of-oneness of the piece. Shot in one take on black and white film, the video captures a very New York moment, following the late rapper on a run to the bodega to buy some fruit. The video was directed by Adam Bhalla Lough, who dug up this alternate single-screen visual from his archive upon the announcement of DOOM’s passing. Lough and a colorist at his studio are the only people who have seen this version of the 2000 music video. The reserve price for the video is currently set at 99 ETH (or about $266,000 USD.) 50% of proceeds from sale will be donated to DOOM’s children.

The auction marks the late rapper’s third round in the ever-growing NFT market. In October of 2020, DOOM was one of the very first musicians to auction off an NFT, partnering with Illust Space to mint 11 unique versions of his signature mask as tokens to be used on augmented reality platforms. Upon learning of his death, the winners of those masks put them back up for sale, committing 10% of the purchase price and direct donation to DOOM’s family and estate.

You can watch the original video for MF DOOM’s “Dead Bent” below. Head over to Foundation to place your bid on the alternate take today.
