With the 50th birthday of The Notorious B.I.G. on Saturday, his estate has released new track “G.O.A.T.” with Ty Dolla $ign and Bella Alubo.

The estate of The Notorious B.I.G. has released the rapper’s first posthumous track in 17 years. Ahead of Biggie’s 50th birthday on Saturday – which will be widely celebrated in New York City – his Life After Death track “I Love The Dough” has been sampled for new Afrobeat-inspired single “G.O.A.T.” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Bella Alubo.

“Being on a song with Biggie has been a dream of mine since I was a kid,” said Ty Dolla $ign in a press release. “The song title is fitting of him…the GOAT. Happy Birthday, Big. We miss you!”

“It’s wonderful to witness my son’s music reimagined for his fans and today’s generation of young men and women to embrace his art,” Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace added. I appreciate the hard work of all involved in bringing together the perfect blend of voices and music to this song.”

“One of the things I’ve learned building Biggie’s audience all these years is his global impact. We wanted to create a song that paid homage to that impact, hence the Afrobeats theme,” added the song’s co-creator, Elliot Osagie, who is also Founder and Chairman of Benin City Entertainment.

Friday, May 20th marks the inaugural festivities in New York City for Biggie’s birthday weekend. The Empire State Building will hold a ceremony with special appearances from Biggie’s family members, closest friends and collaborators, including his mother Voletta Wallace, his children CJ and Tyanna Wallace, former Junior M.A.F.I.A. members Lil Kim and Lil Cease and more. On Saturday, the Empire State Building will glow red and white in homage to Biggie’s 1994 debut album Ready to Die, with a crown spinning around its mast.

Homages to Biggie will also be held in Brooklyn, including the Barclay’s Center. The New York City MTA will also unveil a one-day special edition MetroCard which will be available at three subway stations near Bedford-Stuyvesant –  Lafayette Avenue, Clinton-Washington Avenue, and Atlantic Avenue, according to ABC7NY.

Amazon Music and their new catalog music brand, [RE]DISCOVER will host a takeover of the Clinton-Washington Avenue, decorating the station with art and murals dedicated to Biggie. In partnership with Beautify Earth, each borough of New York City will also debut Biggie-centric murals.

On June 10th, the Lincoln Theater will hold an orchestral tribute to Biggie on, also when his posthumous sophomore album Life After Death will have a 25th anniversary deluxe release.
