Tekashi 6ix9ine is apparently intent on making his rap comeback. On Wednesday (April 29), DJ Akademiks hit Twitter and claimed Judge Paul A. Engelmayer had signed an order allowing the controversial rapper to make videos in his backyard and record new music in a home studio.
“Breaking,” the tweet began. “Judge signs off order to allow 6ix9ine to go outside in his backyard for 2 hours per week to record music videos and also to go to his basement for 8 hours per day to record music.”

Around the same time, 6ix9ine shared a post to his Instagram Stories asking his roughly 15.2 million followers if they were “ready?” He shared what appears to be a release date of May 8 along with a goofy face emoji.

6ix9ine, who was granted a “compassionate release” from prison earlier this month over coronavirus concerns, signed a record contract for $10 million while still incarcerated. He’s reportedly working on two albums — one in Spanish and another in English.

The 23-year-old is seemingly already working hard to reinvent himself. Not long after he was released from Queens Detention Facility, he purchased a small fleet of luxury vehicles — including a Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes Benz G-Wagon and a Range Rover — a $300,000 chain and Richard Mille watch, which start at roughly $80,000.
It will be difficult to separate himself from the “Snitch9ine” reputation he earned since his November 2018 arrest, but evidently he’s going to try.
