Tekashi 6ix9ine is currently behind the walls of a New York prison, but evidently they can’t protect him from a lawsuit.

According to The Blast, the embattled Brooklyn rapper is being sued for copyright infringement by fellow artist Yung Gordon. Court documents state he filed the federal lawsuit against 6ix9ine, Tay Keith an Create Music Group earlier this week.

The suit claims a company named Take Money Promotions wrote Yung Gordon a direct message on Instagram, asking him for a radio drop for its programming to which he obliged.

“The drop consists of nine seconds of music, written and performed by the Plaintiff, with the following lyrics: “Y’all already know, it be the boy Yung Gordon / You rockin’ with Take Money Promotions/Ay Take Money Promotions/Give ’em that new sh-t, no fool sh- t/Oh Yeah, let’s go,” the docs read.

At the time, Yung Gordon had a relationship with 6ix9ine and played it for him. Yung Gordon accuses the imprisoned rapper of using the drop for his 2018 song “STOOPID” without permission.

Yung Gordon is suing for an injunction that will prevent 6ix9ine from continuing to profit off his work along with unspecified damages.

“Stoopid” opens with a recording of the dop written and performed by the Plaintiff,” the suit reads. “While the Drop has been removed from the ‘Stoopid’ track that is currently available on Spotify, upon information and belief it remains on all other versions of “Stoopid” that are currently streaming or available for sale.”

6ix9ine was sentenced in his racketeering case on December 18, 2019. He received 24 months in prison with five years supervised release, 300 hours of community service and a $35,000 fine. With time served and the 85 percent rule, he could be out as early as July 2020.
