New York, NY –
Tekashi 6ix9ine is reportedly being sued by Fashion Nova for $2.25 million. According to TMZ, the Brooklyn-bred rapper inked a deal with the company to promote the brand in his lyrics and on his social media before his November 2018 arrest.
The court documents reportedly state 6ix9ine was paid an upfront fee of $225,000 for the partnership but went to jail only two weeks later.
The lawsuit alleges that in addition to his inability to promote the fast-fashion company while behind bars, his criminal record also deems him an inappropriate brand ambassador for the company.
The company believes his testimony during the highly-publicized court cases against two alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Blood gang members damages his ability to adequately represent the brand.
Furthermore, Fashion Nova asserts 6ix9ine’s team hid the entire criminal prosecution, implying they were unaware of his unclean image. They also state he agreed to return the $225,000 advance but has failed to do so.
As of now, 6ix9ine is scheduled to be released from prison on August 2.
