Just days after announcing iconic producers Teddy Riley and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds would go head-to-head in a 20-round beat battle, Swizz Beatz has postponed the event.
According to Swizz, it’s still going down — and will be worth the wait.
“The date is changed, but keep your outfits on deck because the new date is coming back ASAP,” Swizz wrote Instagram. “We’re taking the quality to the next levels for these 2 Kings. You will understand later, trust me.”
He also reassured fans there won’t be any substitutions.
“Nobody backed out FYI,” he noted.
Since Swizz and Timbaland got the ball rolling with their Instagram Live battle, fans have fallen in love with the format. In the comments of his announcement, some wondered if the quest for quality would inevitably kill the vibe of the whole experience by making it too polished.
“We need quality, but [still need it to] be simple,” Swizz told one fan.
He added, “You’ll thank me later.”
